Local Niche

What is a niche? The online dictionary defines NICHE as “a distinct segment of a market”. The phrase “to find one’s niche in the business world” plainly speaking, is to craft out a place or position in the business world which is most suitable and appropriate for a person.

Local Niche then means finding the most appropriate products, ideas or services and/or goods and offered to your local communities. In the process, you establish yourself as an expert, specialist and become the brand name of your products, ideas or services.

Local Niche – Global Influence?

I live in Kuching Sarawak, which is widely known to the rest of the world as the land of the Hornbill. If you have been to Kuching as a tourist before, you will recall walking around our famed Water Front and come across stretches of shops selling all sort of local souvenirs. Inevitably, you will chance on numerous variety of souvenirs depicting our famed Hornbill in handcrafted wood, silk-screen printed T-shirts, key-chains of hornbills in various forms and even jig-saw puzzles of hornbills.
